Steven Shattuck is a thoughtful communicator and passionate advocate for heart-centered fundraising. Steven is the author of the popular book Robots Make Bad Fundraisers – How Nonprofits Can Maintain the Heart in the Digital Age (Bold and Bright Media, 2020), where he champions the importance of empathy and human connection in an increasingly automated world. He also contributed to Fundraising Principles and Practice: Second Edition and has written for trusted sector platforms including the National Council of Nonprofits, AFP, Advancing Philanthropy, NTEN, and Nonprofit Hub.
His speaking engagements have taken him to major industry events such as AFP ICON, NAYDO, Cause Camp, ADRP, the Nonprofit Storytelling Conference, and Planet Philanthropy, where he consistently earns praise for his practical insights and warm, engaging delivery.
Steven earned his degree in Telecommunications and Creative Writing from Ball State University in 2006, where he graduated with honors and received the David Letterman Scholarship.
He lives in Indianapolis with his wife, son, and daughter, and continues to inspire nonprofit professionals to lead with heart in every donor conversation.
